Job Description
Part-time, 40 hours per pay period. Varying hours.
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for utilizing the nursing process to provide individualized nursing care. The RN assumes the responsibility for the outcome of nursing care during a specified work period. The RN Functions in a structured care setting described as geographical and/or situational environment where standing operating procedures are present for the provision of health care delivery. The RN has knowledge of and utilizes appropriate age-related patient protocols relating to the physical and psychological needs of adolescent, adult and geriatric patients as well as neonates. The RN duties include providing patient care in the medical surgical and outpatient therapies. Moreover the RN may be assigned duties or assist in the emergency room, intensive care unit, perinatal and Gyn Services includes childbirth classes, perinatal outpatients, antepartum, labor and delivery, recovery, operating room, post-partum, newborn nursery, follow-up programs, and gynecology. The RN may be scheduled to work at the Long Term Care Facility if needed. Job Knowledge and Skills: Following a competency based formal orientation, competence and performance is expected. Must pass Basic Arrhythmia Course. Refer to department specific self-assessment checklist for specifics. All new employees will attend CPR training and must be certified within 6 months of hire.
The RN functions within the scope and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the South Dakota Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules. The Sanford Nursing Practice recognizes the Scope and Standards of Practice (2004) and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements (2001) as published by the American Nurses Association as the foundation for nursing care delivery.
Required Skills
Graduate from an American Association of Colleges of nursing or National League for Nursing accredited college of nursing. Current South Dakota RN license is required or multi-state licensure privileges.
ACLS highly recommended. Currently licensed with the South Dakota Board of Nursing to practice as a Registered Nurse or multi-state licensure privileges. BLS Certification every other year.
